Blak Widow Coach Ryan Terefenko has been named among 50 players nationally by the Tewaaraton Foundation to the 2019 Tewaaraton Award men’s watch list. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Terefenko is one of the top two-way midfielders in the country and is coming off a sophomore season in which he was a third-team USILA All-American. The Wilson, Pa. native has started all four games this year with 10 ground balls – second highest total on the team. He’s also registered a point in each of the last two games, scoring a man-up goal vs. UMass and assisting on a Jack Myers goal in the third quarter last week vs. Bucknell.
Terefenko has played in 37 career games with 83 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers, 10 goals and 12 assists. He was a first team All-Big Ten selection in 2018 and is also a two-time USILA All-American (honorable mention in 2017, third team in 2018).
Coach Terefenko Named BIG10 Defensive Player of the Week
2/20/2018
COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third time in as many weeks, an Ohio State player has earned weekly lacrosse honors from the Big Ten Conference. Today, it was sophomore Ryan Terefenko, who was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Terefenko, from Sinking Spring, Pa., had two ground balls, a caused turnover and one goal in last Saturday’s 9-7 victory over Hofstra. He was an instrumental in helping Ohio State’s defense hold the Pride scoreless for 13:48 of the fourth quarter.
Midway through the first quarter, Logan Maccani picked up a ground ball on Hofstra’s offensive end of the field and flipped it to Terefenko, who raced up the middle of the field and scored the game’s second goal. It was part of a five-goal run that gave Ohio State a 5-0 lead after the opening quarter.
An honorable mention All-American in 2017, Terefenko has a goal and two assists from his defensive midfield position to go along with six ground balls and a caused turnover through three games. With his help, Ohio State’s unit ranks first in the Big Ten and seventh nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 7.33 goals per game.
Tommy Reinhart and Ben Goetz Commit to Ursinus College
12/26/2017
Blak Widow is pleased to announce that Tommy Reinhart and Ben Goetz have verbally committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA.
Reinhart & Goetz have been integral parts to the 2018 squads success as they took the championship crowns in 3 consective summer tournaments at the Varsity Level.
Reinhart has great hands, footwork and lacrosse IQ for the offensive side of the ball. Goetz is a shut down defensive player that can get the ball off the turf and up the field at ease.
Good luck to the both of you as you continue to grow on and off the field as Ursinus College Bears.
Garrett Heidecker - Committed to Misericordia University
September 25, 2017
Congratulations to Garrett Heidecker as he's committed to play Division III lacrosse at Misericordia University near Dallas, PA. Garrett has been part of the pioneer class for Blak Widow Select since its inception. Heidecker is a specialist at the faceoff X that will grind all day. Heidecker's confidence, technique, and poise helped the 2018 squad to three consecutive championships in the summer of 2017. All the best to Garrett as he enters his senior year of high school at Berks Catholic and then moves on to the higher ranks.
Cole Snyder - Committed to Cabrini University
September 6, 2017
Congratulations to Cole Snyder as he plans to continue his lacrosse career playing at Cabrini University. Snyder is an elusive, athletically gifted two way midfielder that has great speed and should excel at the next level. Snyder is part of the first graduating class (2018) for Blak Widow Select. We wish Cole all the best with what the future holds.
June 2017
Congratulations to Coach Terefenko for making the Division I All American Honorable Mention List. As a freshman at Ohio State University, Terefenko was a shut down defensive midfielder gaining recognition as the 2017 season progressed. Coach Terry helped guide the Buckeyes to the National Championship game but was unable to participate due to a season ending knee injury. Although deemed a defensive midfielder, Terefenko was very much a threat during transition ending the season with 5 goals and 6 assists. Great job Coach Terefenko!!!

History is about to be made for Blak Widow Select as the 2018 Black squad approachs high school graduation. The 2018 class is the class in which Blak Widow Select started...in that class rose an abundance of lacrosse talent looking to play at the next level. The first of those players that have officially committed to play at the next level is Wilson Goalie Frankie Cox. Cox has committed to play Division 1 ball at Robert Morris University. Cox has been an integral part of the success of the 2018 Blak Widow Select Team. With great lacrosse IQ and awareness, fast feet and quick hands, he is the backbone of the 2018 defense...the one that has bailed us out of some very dificult situations, and the one the younger goalies look up to. We wish Frankie all the best with his future endevours!!!
